About Brooke

Is your child struggling in school? Falling behind in reading or having trouble subtracting double digits? Is homework a daily dreaded fight? Not meeting IEP goals?

School doesn't have to be a struggle anymore. With the proper tools, modifications, and teaching strategies that come in my "teacher toolbox", I've helped many children break through to finally understand the material they once felt was incomprehensible.

My experience has been vast as an educator. I have a Master's Degree with a 4.0 GPA in Elementary Education with a focus on special education/learning disabilities from Hunter College. I've worked with children in kindergarten through 5th grade and am certified in both special education and elementary education in NY and NJ.

I've held positions in collaborative classrooms comprised of gifted, Special Education, and English language learners, as a resource room teacher, as a Special Education Liaison, in which I reviewed school-wide IEPs, and as the Head of Interventions, in which I either personally worked with struggling students outside of class or helped their teacher determine appropriate interventions to use within the classroom prior to being referred to special education.

I've been a mentor to student teachers and have presented at the National Conference for Teaching English on my work developing inferential reading comprehension.

As a teacher, I'm both patient and creative. I'm highly organized and passionate about education, especially students with learning differences because my family has struggled with them as well.

I've found in my experience that no child is alike, so I tailor curriculum to fit each individual student. I use multi-sensory Orton Gillingham research based techniques and incorporate your child's specific learning style to help make more memorable, deepened connections. I am a certified Wilson Reading Intervention instructor and have experience in a variety of phonics and math programs to remediate and help children that are falling behind.

Whether it's IEP progress, phonics instruction, homework help, general reading, writing, math or test prep, I have the experience and the heart to help you and your child.
