I have a BS degree in Elementary Education and over 25 years of experience working with all aged children in a variety of settings; schools, camps, after school programs, nanny, babysitter, orphanages, and tutoring positions. My classroom experience includes middle school as a science and math teacher and a grade three classroom teacher. I also have taught adults and children in many situations outside of the classroom (camps, personal tutoring, etc.).
I enjoy kids, have a degree in Elementary Education from Gordon College, and have more than 25 years of teaching experience in various settings. I taught Grade 3 and Middle School Math and Science at a private, Christian School in Lynn for four years before working as the Admissions Coordinator. In addition, I have experience working with children and youth in a camp setting and my local church.
Currently, I tutor homeschooling students in writing and grammar during the school year. I believe that learning should be engaging and active for children. Games and a variety of activities make learning interactive for the students in my classroom.
I desire for children to be excited when they come to class and ready to fully participate and engage in each lesson. I enjoy teaching children and adapting my lessons to their learning styles and what works best for them to understand and comprehend the information.
When teaching math I employ the use of math manipulatives, practice games, and real-life scenarios to apply the skills being learned. I have tutored 8th-grade students in the past who were studying algebra.
When teaching English I create lessons that build vocabulary and elements that develop interesting writers that can identify the basic elements or building blocks of sentences and paragraphs. I use literature as examples of great writing and try to engage students to write about topics that interest them.
I have a Massachusetts criminal background check report available for parents/caregivers to review.
