I earned my Masters of Theological Studies from Boston University after studying english literature and writing at Belmont University. I specialize in teaching academic/essay writing, creative writing (esp. poetry), thesis development, note taking strategies, grammar, syntax, and overall argument structure. My greatest strength as a tutor is my ability to create custom pedagogy that allows for students to not only improve as thinkers and writers, but to build upon their natural inclinations and skills. While there are many tested models for teaching writing, I believe that each student requires something different, and I work with families and students to create the best (and most engaging) customized tutoring models.
During my English degree, I peer taught and tutored students for a writing course, and more recently, I have been working at Boston University as a writing tutor for the graduate school of theology--helping students with a wide spectrum of writing abilities to learn the basics of academic writing. I work with many ESL students both at Boston University and as a volunteer substitute teacher for Rosie's Place's ESL program.
Writing and helping other people find their voice are my deepest passions. I hope to help you do the same.
