I am a certified teacher with a BA in English and Secondary Education, as well as two master’s degrees, and have nine years’ experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages. For the past five years, I’ve taught college composition and I specialize in writing and literacy. I have worked with students K-continuing education, as well as ACT exam prep, at Sylvan Learning Center and Huntington Learning Center. I have tutored at-risk youth in a residential campus, helped preschoolers learn to read, and lead writing workshops in elementary schools and county jails. I have also worked as an Associate Editor, where I copy-edited and proof-read manuscripts. I love teaching and working with students of all ages and abilities, from beginning phonics to college writing and I'm here to help you gain confidence in your writing!
I believe that tutoring, and teaching, should be tailored to the student’s particular needs. Tutoring is not just about helping students prepare for the next test, but about teaching how to read critically, study efficiently, and problem-solve independently. The most important part of a tutor’s job is to meet the student where they are and help guide them towards confident, independent learning.
