During the course of my PhD, I have been a teaching assistant for general chemistry containing classrooms of 450+ students and managed several discussions a quarter with about 200 students total.
I currently teach preparatory general chemistry at a community college in Orange County and have tutored Newport Mesa School District high school students for the last couple of years. The high school students I have tutored have all increased by at least two letter grades.
I pay attention to detail and don't just give my students answers. I expect them to work, learn, understand, and have the ability to apply what they've learned on exams and in later topics. Chemistry is a build-up science; it is not a subject where you memorize one aspect, forget it, and continue onto another. A strong understanding of the applications in chemistry will also help in other science and engineering classes.
