Hello,
I have been tutoring high school and college students in chemistry, math, and English for about 4 years now. I currently work as a private school teacher. I have taught as a volunteer tutor as well. I did organic chemistry research concerning the synthesis of free radicals at my university, and chemistry is my main passion along with tutoring and teaching. I enjoy biology, and I have a background in biology as well (cell biology and microbiology), but not the same extent as chemistry. I like learning new fields, and I have taken a large quantity of random engineering courses (materials, civil, electrical, chem E, thermo, etc.), so I have a solid basic background in sciences other than chemistry and biology.
I can also help with English. I had straight A's in all of the college English and writing courses I took: English 1A/1B, Technical writing (for engineering), debate/public speaking, and philosophy (which was mostly writing). I teach both ESL and English for native speakers. I can teach grammar, essay writing, and reading comprehension. Structuring essays is interesting to me, and I enjoy teaching people how to create more intricate essays. I can speak Russian because my family is from Russia (I am the first generation here), so I can help native Russian speakers improve their English (with attention to mistakes specifically made by native Russian speakers). My English is a lot better than my Russian. I will gladly assist people of other language backgrounds as well.
I have a very organized style of tutoring, and like to know materials/textbooks/etc. before doing a lesson. I use molecular model sets to help teach organic chemistry, molecular geometry, and hybridization. My style is very relaxed, and I want you to feel confident and comfortable. I love tutoring.
