About Neil

I've been teaching logic and philosophy at the college level for over seven years. I currently teach philosophy at Diablo Valley College and Las Positas College in the Bay Area. Throughout this time I have developed a good sense of how to translate difficult philosophical concepts into a readily understandable form. If you are looking for help in demystifying topics in the area of logic, metaphysics, epistemology, or ethics, I can definitely be of help.

I have experience teaching propositional logic, predicate logic, and categorical logic. I can help you with the following: demonstrate use of the syntax and semantics of propositional and first-order deductive logic; translate arguments in English into a formal language such as the language of sentential logic; evaluate the validity of arguments using both direct and indirect truth table methods; construct proofs in a system of natural deduction; and much more. I can also walk students through argument basics and mechanics, evaluating arguments, recognizing and avoiding formal and informal fallacies, as well as using valid argument forms in the construction of their own well-formed arguments in written assignments.

Logic can at fist appear counter intuitive, but with patience and practice one can begin to appreciate the principles of logical analysis and begin use them in constructing their own arguments and evaluating the arguments of others. If you're struggling in some area of logic or philosophy, I am here to help!
