To see the understanding spread across the child's face and then watch him apply the new understanding is one of the great joys and rewards of teaching. I have a knack of explaining concepts to children in ways they understand and relate to. I use a variety of methods and styles, zeroing in on the ones that benefit the child. I have a wide assortment of curriculum and write personalized curriculum when needed. To be part of assisting a child over an educational hurdle is one of the great rewards a teacher can experience!
I have worked in public, private, and home education. I taught 1st-3rd grade in public school, taught at private schools and home school programs and home educated my own children. Currently, I tutor extensively and work as a home school advisor.
I am familiar with many styles of learning and education from unschooling to classical schooling.
I graduated with a BA in German from UCLA and have over 23 Master Degree units from BIOLA and GCU. In 1997, I earned a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential (K-8) with a CLAD emphasis (Cross-Cultural Language and Development), and ESL (English as a Second Language) from pre-school to adult as well as a Specialization in German to the ninth grade, at CSUSM.
