I have a PhD in Education, an MA in Second Language Studies, and 15 years of experience teaching college English as a second language (ESL), presently at the University of Southern California. I have taught language and academic skills in undergraduate programs, community colleges, and private institutions in Germany, Hawaii, and California. I have led teacher training seminars, professional development workshops, and worked with K-12 student-teachers. I have also published articles on ESL methods and materials.

Other students want to improve their confidence in English communication for a specific purpose, like business meetings, job interviews, or acting auditions. I use engaging, research-based approaches that target your particular goals and aims while also improving your overall language development, critical thinking skills, and creative expression.

I offer private lessons in all areas of ESL, English (humanities, social sciences), K-12 language arts, standardized test prep, conference/public speaking prep, college coursework, and content writing. I have experience teaching students of all ages and proficiency levels who come from dozens of different language backgrounds.
