Current full-time student at Azusa Pacific University, taking upper-divison courses for my major in English with an emphasis in Teaching. Apart from my own education and pursuit of high-level English courses, I have over four years of experience teaching and tutoring the subject to high-school students. I have experience working with entire classes as well as individual students, and I have a great passion for helping students find their own love of literature. At La Mirada High-School I worked as a teaching assistant with freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors in building their analytical writing and reading skills, helping them earn better grades in their English courses, prepping them for AP Tests, and preparing them for college level courses. As a product of the public school system and as one who has taught within it, I'm intimately and extremely familiar with the many novels, plays, and poems students will encounter in high-school and college; and I can aide them in developing the skills they'll need to succeed in higher education. In being familiar with these texts, I help students learn how to correctly develop their analysis when reading and to think critically about them; which is the first step in articulating that analysis through their writing . I specialize in teaching those writing skills and techniques necessary for students to succeed in high-school and college, including in-class essay writing, essay writing, and research papers.
