I have done supplemental instruction in general chemistry, which is a service where I hosted classrooms and taught a class of 20 students at a time. I made sure to get everyone involved and addressed common issues that students were having with the material.
I love tutoring because I was at the same place as many of the students were with the confusion over the subject material. It really makes me feel good when I know that I was able to share tips and tricks that helped me understand the material, and the feeling of gratitude that students have towards me is always rewarding.
I have received a letter grade of A in every single chemistry course I have attempted, including general chemistry 1, general chemistry 2, organic chemistry 1, and organic chemistry 2.
I have retaken the MCAT and gone from a 506 to a 515, so I learned a great deal about what was necessary to make such an improvement. I believe everyone has the opportunity to score well on this exam as long as they stay dedicated and are guided correctly.
My score breakdown was:
Chem/Physics: 131 (99th percentile)
CARS: 125
Bio/Biochem: 128
Psych/Soc: 131 (99th percentile)
I will do my best to share everything I have learned through my personal experience going through these courses and tests to make sure that you understand the material at the end of the day. I won't just tutor passively, but rather actively watch for what errors are being made and correct them.
