To be sufficient in a subject is to be able to perform the problems assigned to you. To be proficient in a subject is to be able to perform any problem that could be assigned to you, or at least tackle them adequately. In our fast-paced society, more times than not, students are educated just to be sufficient in a subject. My intent as a tutor is to educate a student to master that subject -- to be proficient in ... See more

Math and science turoring with a focus on test prep.

My first experience tutoring came while attending the University of Southern California in 2005. There, I assisted fellow classmates in preparing for upcoming exams and found great reward in helping others gain confidence in their academics abilities. After graduation, I was presented with the opportunity to join a network of USC alumni providing tutoring services to the surrounding community. Through this network, I began tutoring elementary and middle school students in their homes, gaining more subject experience and acquiring a ... See more

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Tutor/Mentor

I have been preparing children and adults for their bar and bat mitzvahs for many years, both
here in New York as well as in Israel, where I lived for many years. Working with these, both as a group or individually, is a passion of mine.  There are times when I am introduced to children who may have little to little to no enthusiasm for this upcoming milestone in their lives.  At times it is the “unaffiliated” families who choose ... I just had my first lesson with Minori....she was amazing! I studied Japanese for several years, but have taken about two years off and have forgotten quite a lot and lost confidence in my ability. Minori was very patient with me and helped me gain my confidence back over the course of our lesson. She encouraged me along the way and helped me to remember why I love studying Japanese! I loved her teaching style and felt that she listened to my goals and came up with a plan that is realistic and obtainable. I am looking forward to having more lessons with her.
