Qualifications & Experience

I'm a Math and Computer Science Tutor and an industry Software Engineer. I recently completed 2 years as a Software Engineer at Amazon after receiving my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
During my final semester of college, I worked at a high school as a math tutor and loved it. I've since moved to Seattle, where I've worked for Amazon as a Software Engineer for the past 2.5 years. My first year, I volunteered with Treehouse to tutor a senior in high school in Pre-Calculus for a full school year. With the student having grown up going to school in Kenya, it was a fun and unique challenge to find different ways of teaching the subject that would help her understand best.
Teaching is my greatest passion. My experience is in tutoring High School Math but I'm happy to work with middle school or elementary school students in math or with any student on Computer Science. Whether preparing for a big exam, trying to catch back up in a course, or trying to gain a deeper understanding of the subject than a student can get in a large classroom setting, I am here to help!
Math has always been my favorite subject because there is always an answer to the question "why?". When I work with students, I try to help the student focus on the their understanding of the "why?" rather than just worrying about whether they got the problem correct.
