Language is a true passion of mine, and that passion led me to earn a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri - Columbia and a Master of Arts in Germanic Language from the University of Texas at Austin, where I was a teaching assistant. In addition to my time at UT-Austin, I have also owned and operated my own tutoring business, as well as taught English as a Second Language at ELS Language Center for more than two years.
Coaching students in a one-on-one environment is where I thrive as a teacher. I have a well-honed knack for understanding what students are trying to say in the target language and helping them to express their ideas in a way that makes them feel validated and confident. One of the most important philosophies I adhere to is that making mistakes is vital to the language learning process. By creating a relaxed environment, I help students to shed their language anxiety and enjoy the process of learning a new language.
