Qualifications & Experience

Throughout high school and my undergraduate college career, I have relied on engaging, intelligent, and sympathetic tutors to make sure I was in the right direction in regards to my studies and academic objectives. Working as a tutor is my way of giving back knowledge and experience to those who need it in my immediate community.

At San Jose State University (SJSU), I was a Writing Consultant for the Communication Studies Center and assisted students of various majors in content development, organization, public speaking, rhetoric, and conducting library database research. Additionally, I was a writing tutor and teacher's assistant for SJSU's Philosophy Department. I have previously assisted students enrolled in Introduction to Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Introduction to Aesthetics, and Business Ethics courses.

After graduating SJSU, I briefly attended Evergreen Valley College (EVC) to take supplemental law school courses in preparation for my enrollment at Willamette University College of Law. While I was at EVC, I gained extensive experience with tutoring adult students taking English as a Second Language courses. I also assisted students needing help with beginning and intermediate English Composition and Argumentation Courses. Due to COVID-19 affecting the school semester, I learned to adapt to online tutoring.

HeyTutor has been a phenomenal resource that has been both professionally and personally enriching. I now have experience with tutoring at the elementary school-level in a private home setting and look forward to broadening my tutoring experiences.

As a tutor, my goal is to fully respect the student and encourage them to reach their full potential. I will actively listen and adapt to the student's learning styles. Whether it be tutoring with the traditional Socratic Method or using some sort of creative outlet, my objective is a student to gain conceptual understanding and raise their course confidence.

Caitlin's brilliant. She's meeting my daughter right where she's at, and tailoring the lessons to make them fun and interesting. She's great at providing feedback to me, and my daughter's always excited about each meeting.
