About Elizabeth

As a math teacher in the classroom, I was very caring, enthusiastic, hard working, effective and dedicated. I was always willing to learn about and implement effective teaching methods in the classroom. For example, within my first year of teaching, I was asked to teach a group of twelve 8th graders the integrated algebra regents course. My dedication to my students resulted in a 100% passing rate and a mean score of 83% on the NYS Integrated Algebra Regents. At the end of my first year of as an eight-grade math teacher, I was asked to create a curriculum for the following year’s eight grade math classes. Furthermore, my constant care for my students and hard-working nature kept giving my students opportunities to excel. At the end of my second year of teaching, 90% of my sixth grade students scored a level 3-4; 95% made gains on the NYS Math Exam. Of these 88 students tested, 14% had a learning disability and 14% were English Language Learners. I revamped and implemented my lessons to include even more multi-step, higher ordered thinking problems, aligned to the common core. Furthermore, I spent countless hours studying patterns on the Mathematics State Test and incorporating my findings in my lessons, worksheets and exams. Needless to say, my students continued to perform extremely well, performing best in the district and city, every year that I taught.

Currently, I am tutoring/teaching Mathematics ACT/SAT courses.
