I am completely fluent in both French and Spanish and I studied French Literature at Columbia. I am highly knowledgable about both formal and informal French and Spanish as well as the academic writing style for both languages. I have studied at the Sorbonne in Paris and La Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán in Mérida, Mexico where I gave academic talks and wrote lengthy academic papers in French and Spanish. However, my native language is English and I am intimately familiar with how challenging learning these languages can be. I can be of great help to students whose native language is English as they grapple with new systems of grammar and vocabulary that can be confusing (like the subjunctive mode). I have a genuine passion for learning languages that I hope to share but I am also sensitive to the fact that many people hire tutors specifically to improve test scores. I have taken dozens of language tests myself throughout the years and I know what students are likely to encounter and how to prepare for it.
