I am a public school teacher with over eleven years of experience and a "highly effective" rating. I have spent most of my career working with kindergarten, first and second graders in the classroom setting, but have also worked with fourth and fifth graders in a tutoring and test-prep capacity. Along with a master's degree in general education, I also hold a master's in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and have had success working with children who speak little to no English. My background in the early grades has provided me with ample practice in breaking down skills and concepts to their elemental parts which is crucial for students of any age who may be struggling to grasp classroom material. I have a deep understanding of the foundational building blocks of reading, writing, and math and I am able to adapt my lessons to meet children's specific needs. I believe that learning should be fun and approached in such a way that children take pride and ownership over their work and growth.
