About Nick

Hi There-

My name is Nick. I am a NYS certified general education/special education teacher who loves teaching and helping kids learn. I have taught hundreds of children how to read and plan to keep on helping families.

I tutor both general education and special needs students grade 1-8 with ADD/ADHD, Autism, Aspergers, Dyslexia, Executive Functioning Issues, Reading Disabilities, English Language Learners, and anyone else who LEARNS DIFFERENTLY.

I spent seven wonderful years in the classroom teaching students with disabilities and without.

I believe ALL children can be successful in the classroom regardless of learning disability, classification, or past performance.

We teach kids who Learn Differently by taking the time to understand how each child's mind processes and retains information. Our tutors will work with your child's learning style to build their confidence, provide concrete strategies and jump start academic achievement.


What Subjects Do I Teach?

READING TUTORING:

Comprehension, Fluency, Decoding, Direct Phonics Instruction, Literacy-Based Critical-Thinking Skills, and all other NYS ELA Common Core Standards, Grades 1-8.

SCIENCE TUTORING:

Lab-based Scientific Writing, Comprehension of Scientific Texts.

MATH TUTORING:

Development of Number Sense, Cognitive-Guided Instruction (CGI) toward basic computation (Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication and Division), strategies to conceptualize Story Problems, Algebra, Fractions, Geometry, and all other NYS Math Common Core Standards, Grades 1-8.

WRITING TUTORING:

Handwriting, Grammar, Narrative Writing, Non-Fiction Composition, Research Project Planning, Personal Essay Coaching.

Where do I teach?

I schedule lessons with special education students at libraries, at cafes, or at your family's home. We are available SEVEN DAYS-A-WEEK.
