I obtained my B.S. in Human Development from Cornell University and an M.A. in Sociology and Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. I have worked as a lead 6th grade teacher, teaching all subjects, for the past two years. Through collaboration with my colleagues across grade-levels and my experience grading NY state assessments, I have developed the skills necessary to help students in grades K-8 master the NY CCSS. Having a personal passion for literacy and English Language Arts, I am also looking to extend my tutoring services to high school ELA or college writing. I am going to be pursuing my MSEd degree in Childhood Education in a few months and would love to use my skills to help students excel as I continue my own education. As an educator, nothing makes me happier than building connections with my students, allowing them to feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and finding creative solutions to problems. I am used to differentiating my lesson plans to fit the individual needs of my students, as students learn differently. I work closely with them to find the right strategies to fit their learning style. I also firmly believe in making subjects relevant and engaging and use various analogies and resources in the process. I welcome feedback and strive to maintain an active line of communication with students and their families.
