I taught 6th and 7th graders in Costa Rica for two years before returning to Minnesota to teach 7 years as a 5th grade classroom teacher. I have significant experience in differentiating instruction to meet the needs of my students in an array of subject areas. I am especially strong in the social studies fields of history and geography, but I also am experienced with math from basic computation up to Algebra I, Language Arts through 6th grade (reading, writing, grammar, spelling), as well knowing introductory Latin and Spanish.
I expect students to be committed learners, to work hard and to ask questions when needed. As a teacher, I hold myself to similar high standards to be a life-long learner, to seek out answers, to communicate clearly, to create engaging lessons and to be a guide for students on their education journey. Along the way, my goals are to make learning fun, enriching and empowering.
