About Mark

Hello,

My name is Mark. I am a teacher of Mathematics and Physics and a retired Earth Scientist from the NASA - Goddard Space Flight Center. I have BS and PhD degrees in Mathematics from MIT and Cornell. I would like to share my knowledge and understanding of Mathematics, Physics, Earth Science, and Computers with the next generation of students and professionals. I have over 1800 hours of tutoring experience over the past 6 years in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Technical Writing, SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, and many related areas with more than 145 students.

I am here to help you! I am here to help you master the powerful mathematical and scientific tools that will support your education and your career. I am here to present a broader, gentler picture of math and science and to demonstrate to you the enormous scope, power, and benefits of these subjects for almost any endeavor.

I am here to teach you to use your natural intuition and creativity to understand and solve problems in these subjects and in life in general. I am here to show you how to break problems down into small, manageable steps and to build up your self-confidence in applying the natural mathematical talent that you and everyone else is born with.

I have taught classes at Cornell University, the State University of New York, New York University, Columbia University, the University of Maryland, and at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia. I am currently a substitute teacher in the Montgomery County Public School System and a Math teacher for high-performing elementary through high-school students at the Art of Problem Solving Academy in Gaithersburg, MD. I have also received examination preparation training from Kaplan for standardized exams such as the SAT.

Please let me know how I can help you.
