I treasure knowledge and teaching, and have years of experience teaching in the classroom setting. I first taught on the faculty for Herald College's main campus in California in 2008, and then I returned to my hometown in Chicago’s North Shore and was a teacher for The Sage Group and Computer Systems Institute. I also taught ESL in Japan for the 1998-1999 school year on the JET Program, teaching high school and junior high school students. As for my education, I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and my Master of Science in Computer Science, graduating with honors/distinction, making me a "Double Demon" in DePaul's phraseology (the name of the basketball team for DePaul is the DePaul Blue Demons). All the subjects taught in school and university I found fascinating, and still do. I'm an eternal student, learning is my life. Honor societies I have been inducted to are Phi Alpha Theta, Psi Chi, and Upsilon Pi Epsilon. These inductions are for life, so I’m very glad to have them! I’m always ready to teach and I have a listening ear, and ready to be a coach, guide, tutor, and adviser to any student that has goals they want to accomplish in their studies.
Lifetime induction in the following National Honor Societies: Phi Alpha Theta, Psi Chi, and Upsilon Pi Epsilon
I am a professional Data Scientist applying for PhD programs in Computer Science. I am not a strong writer, so I wanted some help with writing my personal statement and letter of intent. I met with Dexter on two occasions for roughly a total of six hours. Dexter came well-prepared to both sessions with notes and material on the best techniques for writing these essays. It was clear that, prior to my lesson, he had taken time out of his day to prep and make sure that our time spent together would be as productive as possible. I really liked the way Dexter was able to help me put my ideas into words in a structured format. He asked excellent questions that helped generate new ideas for what to write. By the end of the two sessions, I had complete and well-written drafts of both the personal statement and the letter of intent. Also, Dexter continued to edit the essays after our sessions (free of charge). I highly recommend Dexter as a tutor.
