CURRENTLY TUTORING 12 STUDENTS, I have availability both during the normal school day (for homeschoolers) and limited availability after school/evenings/weekends. A Northwestern University alumnus, I am a newly-retired (only 60 years of age and active) elementary school science teacher (M.Ed., 33 years in the classroom) and father of two, and I tutor K-8th grade math, high school geometry, K-8th grade science, K-6th grade science enrichment, 2nd-7th grade writing, K-7th grade social studies, and, believe it or not, kids through adults in bowling—beginners or casual bowlers. I devise creative ways to enable students to understand concepts and acquire skills, connect learning to the student's everyday world, incorporate hands-on activities, and find each student's level of mastery and build upon it. My clientele has grown from 2 students in September to the present 12 students in only 5 months. My particular areas of science expertise are: Space exploration, astronomy, and meteorology. Always reliable, communicative, respectful, optimistic, and creative, with a sense of humor kids love. (PARENT OF A STUDENT): "You have inspired my son." (REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL DIRECTOR): "He has an instinct on how children learn; you cannot teach that." (PARENT OF A STUDENT): "Your science class is my child's favorite class at school." (PARENT OF A STUDENT): "My daughter says you are the funniest teacher at school."
