About Deborah

Hello, I enjoy tutoring students and I look forward to working with you!

I have worked as an English instructor for over 10 years. I have taught at universities, community colleges, and local non-profit organizations. I have experience working with students from beginner to advanced levels in reading, writing, grammar, and listening/speaking skills. I also have extensive experience working as a private tutor. I have had dozens of clients over the past 10 years.

I also tutor students in French. I lived in France as a student and speak the language fluently.

I have a Master's degree in French/second language education.

My teaching approach is all about the student. I customize my lessons according to the student's level and goals. The first lesson would be an assessment during which I determine the student's current level. Then, I propose a program of study. This program is modifiable depending on the student's progress and learning style. In addition, I periodically assess student progress to ensure that learning goals are being met. My lessons include a variety of activities, including discussions about topics of interest, exercises which focus on skills, games, and other activities. I try to vary the lesson content so that it is always interesting.
