I graduated from Florida A&M University 2009 with a BS in Molecular Cell Biology/ Microbiology. I spent several years as a Biotechnology Instructor and completing various research fellowships. Having recently completed MS in Biology/Education, I am a tutor that will help you to understand the subject, not just learn it. My Education and my background in research, applied science, and career experience makes me completely qualified to tutor all life sciences and English at the high school or collegiate level.
In the past, I've taught independent high school Biology, AP Biology, Biotechnology Chemistry, and AP Environmental Science courses, using various sources to structure the curriculum. I have worked with various learner groups including ELL and ESOL students. I have practical experience applying the knowledge I tutor and can easily adapt to tutor in the unique way each person learns. Learning a subject if often not adequate- science requires an understanding so that it can be applied to different problems.
My preference is to start with the text that the student is currently using, then branch out to other sources, so as to fill potential learning gaps and provide supplementary information that may engage the student more thoroughly in the topic. All I request is that your student be open to working hard and learning as much as they can.
I look forward to hearing from you!
