Thank you for checking out my profile! I am a certified teacher currently employed by Volusia County Public Schools. I have 21 years of teaching experience. 5 of those years have been spent as a Reading Specialist. I have a Master's Degree in Literacy Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. I have continued my own professional learning in the area of literacy since completing my Master's degree. I specialize in foundational reading skills, but feel comfortable teaching students of all abilities in all areas of reading. I have the ability to assess student needs using research based assessment tools. My entire career has been spent individualizing instruction to my students and feel confident I could help your child. I am able to adjust lessons on the fly if something is not working at the moment. Three things, out of so many, I have learned while working with students with a variety of needs is that you need to get to know the child, be flexible, and responsive to the climate of the instruction you are engaged in at the moment.
