Hello, my name is Bryan and I am looking for part time work as a tutor in Biology, Chemistry (organic or general), and writing. Although I hold a Bachelor's of Science in Biology from UCLA, I am also open to teaching other more general skills such as how to compose an effective research paper, and would be more than willing to share my college survival experiences as well. Although I am open to working with students K-8, I much prefer to work with high school or college students, as the subjects I specialize in might be more relevant in those upper grade levels.
While always striving for maximum understanding of a subject is ideal, it is not always feasible or the end all be all. I believe the greatest advantage you can have in order to survive and more importantly, excel, through difficult coursework is to be able to strategize early and effectively. Time management and organization skills are critical in classes where it is not necessarily your understanding that will be tested, but how much information you can absorb in a short amount of time. This is especially true for aspiring pre-medical students, or biology majors. And for those who are visual learners, that is my preferred method of teaching (e.g. using study guides with diagrams, drawing out flowcharts, etc).
