Since high school, I have wanted to share my knowledge. So, I committed my senior year working for THINK Together! as an after-school tutor, assisting my peers to understand and apply difficult concepts to their homework by going through a step-by-step process based on the material provided. There were times that I had to mentor student pen-pals while adjusting to different grade levels by telling them my story and different strategies on how I made it. I loved telling my stories because I knew that I was affecting someone in a good, positive way. I figured then that I want to teach and tell stories. It was a way for me to leave my footprint. And somehow, I sure did. When I went to Santa Ana College, I took part in many different clubs and programs, specifically the SAC Literary Journal, an organization that celebrates the voice of not solely the SAC students and staff but also Santa Ana citizens. In this club, I promoted creative writing in different classes by actively soliciting submissions, then revising and editing writing, and disseminating the journal, Under the Water Tower. I left footprints of mine and helped others leave theirs. Now, I am a full-time English major at the California State University of Fullerton and working as a customer service representative for a corporation by assisting consumers on their valuable purchases from the company as well as patiently resolving cases of complaints both in person and over the phone. I also work as an English Scholarship Program Tutor at Fullerton College, helping students with their research papers. With all of these various experiences, such as knowing how to alleviate the academic struggles and being knowledgeable on how to help students revise their papers to having an extent amount of patience, I know that I will be able to assist the HeyTutor students and take them to the right path. I would love to impact these students positively and leave my footprint at HeyTutor.
