About Gina

I’ve studied privately since I was 7 years old. I have 2 certificates in Fashion Design and Interior Design from Bauder Fashion College in Arlington, Texas, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The University of Texas in Arlington. I was a Clean Up Animator, at Wong Studios, for 5 years. I have participated in Art Shows in Hollywood and the Los Angeles area with great success.
I got married and shortly thereafter, gave birth to boy/girl twins and stayed at home to raise them. By far, they are the most important creation of my entire life.
When my kids went to Elementary School, I took over the Meet the Masters program for K-6th graders. I redesigned the program, with my own slide show that consisted of 60-70 pictures of the Artists work. I held 4 assemblies (K, 1-3, 3-4, 5-6) for 700 students with 6-7 different Master Artists each year. I taught the Art Project related to the Artist, in addition to creating 4 Master Samples of each Art Project, for each level, for the School. I painted mural sized backdrops for the Schools Musicals every year. I accumulated 800 service hours, each year, during the 7 years my kids attended. I was given the Honorary Service Award from the State of California.

I’ve been teaching Private Art Lessons to Home School and Public School Students for 10+ yrs., in their homes, to the present day. The mediums I teach are Sketching, Charcoal, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Colored Pencils, Watercolors, Acrylic, and Pen and Ink. With a variety of subjects that include, but not limited to, Still Life, Landscapes, Animation, Portraits, Figure Drawing, Animals, Perspective, Maps, State Projects. .
I also teach at a Charter School, where I offer Beginning Art, Art 1, and Art 2 classes.
In addition, I teach virtual Art Classes independently and other online platforms.

I have found that most believe drawing is a gift that has to come naturally. You will be surprised to see that drawing is a skill that can be learned with practice. I can teach you how to draw, utilizing techniques that teach you to draw what you see, not what you think you see.
I believe in developing the inherent talent that everyone possesses. Beginning with a solid foundation is important to becoming successful in anything that you want to excel in and understand. Starting with the basic elements; Line, Shape, Form, Texture, Value, and Space, including the many ways to achieve and apply each one is important. Finding strengths, while developing a "skill set" to successfully create art in whatever medium (sketch, charcoal, acrylic, pastels, etc.) you wish to explore and subject matter that includes, but not limited to, Landscapes, Portraits, Figure, Still Life, Animation, Animals, Perspective, and Anamorphic Art.
I design my lessons specifically to the student and don't believe in a cookie cutter approach towards teaching.
Each student is unique and special.
I love to teach and see the magical moments, when my students discover they can pick up a pencil and draw what they see! Watching their confidence grow and their ability to create beautiful artwork, is so fulfilling.
I feel blessed and honored to be a part of it!

I look forward to be given the opportunity to awaken the Artist inside of you or your children!
Please contact me with any questions, or to schedule a lesson!
I teach “in person” and “virtually.”
