Hello! My name is Hanah Chung and I am currently a student at Santa Monica College. I will be transferring to a 4 year university for Fall of 2017 as a Business/Accounting major! I have always had a passion for math, which is why I decided to pursue accounting and finances.
Ever since I was 5 years old, I have been part of an after school program where teachers would assist with my homework and projects. They also helped me stay ahead of the lessons I was learning at school. When I got into high school, I started to assist the teachers with their lessons and homework help. This is really where my passion for teaching grew. I know firsthand how it feels to be stuck in a chair after a full day of school. However, the after school program really changed the way I viewed my education and what it means to stay ahead.
I have been a private tutor for K-8th grade students for 3 years now. During this time I assisted with mainly elementary mathematics and English. For my middle school students, I have taught lessons on Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Geometry. I would help them with their homework after school and teach additional lessons on Saturdays. I have also been a volunteer tutor at my local community center for 2 years. I believe a tutor’s job is to ensure the successes of the students by keeping them on track or even ahead. Throughout my experience working with children, I have found out that each student is unique in the way they understand certain material. My goal is to make my lessons fun, without even knowing that our allotted time has come to an end. My teaching philosophy is to be stern, but open with the students. I have noticed that students really want to learn, especially when they feel welcomed by their teacher.
Please feel free to contact me anytime and I will respond as soon as possible! I am always willing to listen to parents for suggestions on lessons and such. Thank you!
