I thoroughly enjoy tutoring math. I started out tutoring friends and family while in middle school and have continued to tutor math into my professional career. In my career, I have functioned as a process engineer, project engineer, marketing/development, and sales but my passion has always been with tutoring/teaching mathematics.
I am a chemical engineering graduate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology with with over 10 years of experience tutoring primarily in mathematics. I have worked with elementary school, middle school, high school and junior-college students. The bulk of my experience includes homework help and general discussion/explanation of various concepts. However, I've also designed lesson plans while serving as a summer program assistant teacher, and I have provided test preparation for ACT Math, ACT Science, SAT Math, AP Calculus AB, and AP Chemistry.
I have a service-oriented philosophy about tutoring. My main focus is to help the student with their needs and academic goals. If a student still has difficulties, questions/concerns that weren't addressed during allotted session times, I will make myself available. It is important to me that the student feels confident in the subject matter, and is major factor in determining the success of my sessions. I aim to instill confidence by engaging students and promoting critical thinking so that the students develop an understanding and can apply mathematical concepts both in academia and personal life.
