Qualifications & Experience

I am an undergraduate student at the University of California Irvine. My passion for the legal field began in high school when I joined the Mock Trial team. For the past 5 years, I have been a competitor for high school and collegiate Mock Trial. From Mock Trial, I learned the basics of trial procedures: how to conduct direct and cross-examinations, the federal rules of evidence, organize exhibits/bates, and courtroom procedures.

This past year, I gained the opportunity to compete at the national level amongst the best competitors of the nation. Competing at the national level enhanced my abilities that make a great lawyer: to keep an eye for detail, to be diligent, have comfortable public speaking skills, and to think on my feet. UC Irvine’s Mock Trial team placed third in the nation this year, and further committed me to the legal field.

As an undergraduate going into my first year of college, I interned at the Public Defender’s Office at the Tulare County Courthouse. Due to my Mock Trial recognition, one of the attorney’s hired me on the spot as her assistant when I was touring one of the courtrooms. She hired me as an intern on a double homicide case.

Through this internship, I helped her organize bates files, organize physical evidence, pitch in ideas for opening statements, direct/cross-examinations. I was also given access to interact with the judge who was presiding that trial. After a five-week trial, and months of work, our client got acquitted.

In addition to private and public offices, I have worked as a file clerk/intern at the Law Offices of Adrienne D. Cohen. Ms. Cohen is one of the top litigators in the country, and I had the privilege of working with her and her attorney’s as a file clerk and shadowing intern. I opened cases, closed cases, scanned documents, and input the proper labeling of files for the attorneys. I also exclusively shadowed the attorneys during mediations, trials, and depositions.

Along with my extensive public speaking, and critical analysis skills, I love to write! Writing has been strong skill and passion of mine since elementary school. I was one of the few individuals that received an A in one of the most rigorous set of writing classes known as Humanities Core at UCI. I've also worked with college admission employees on how they approach personal statements when it comes to admissions. The background in writing has not only helped me get into an amazing school but has also helped me in my activities such as Mock Trial and my internships.

I also love to paint, and dance, and meet new people! Also, I love to help. We all are students who need a little push sometimes in the right direction, and I believe that I can provide that for you, in the most positive fashion!
